Laura Welcomes You

Laura is the gateway to the Cape. It’s accessible on the sealed Peninsula Development Road. This country is home to the biggest and most significant rock art galleries in Australia. It’s also the destination of the bi-annual Laura Quinkan Indigenous Dance Festival.

The country, community and culture are tied together here, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with and learn more about one of the world’s oldest cultures. While the township is small, the experience is big. We invite you to stop, stay and connect with our people and place. Our facilities include the following.

Split Rock Art Galleries

These rock art galleries are located just off the Peninsula Development Road. They contain numerous Aboriginal paintings, engravings and hand stencils. Accessible on a 30-minute self-guided walk, there are three sites to visit here, Split Rock Galleries, Flying Fox Art Site and Tall Spirits Art Site. Adults are asked to pay a $30 entry fee, children over 12 years $15 – under 12 years – free into the honesty box at the kiosk.

Fees collected assist with the upkeep and maintenance of this National Heritage listed site.

This is an honesty based system, with a box onsite. There are also public toilets available in the car park for the use of paying customers only. No camping is allowed at the site.
